In this day and age, many people have a big dilemma. Almost all of us are dependent on electronic devices, from cell phones, GPS, portable media players and even laptop computers. Most of us also are concerned over the environment, and want to be able to use our toys and still be nice to Mother Earth.

If you are one of these people, one of the best ways you can start doing your part in saving the planet is with cell phone solar chargers. A solar cell charger uses the power of the sun to recharge the battery in your phone, no matter what make or model it might be. In addition, many also buy adapters for their other portable electronic devices.

You can find many different kinds of cell phone solar charges. Some are so small they can fit easily in a briefcase or back pack, and set up whenever you are in a sunny location, to keep your cell phone’s battery topped off, or in an emergency situation. Solar power technologies are becoming so advanced now that even on cloudy days they have some kind of electrical output. In addition, to charging up battery, a solar cell charger has an internal battery so that you have back up at night or on really stormy days. These can also be recharged over time, or when you get to a place that has a USB port.

          ]]>

Many people are worried about the price of cell phone solar chargers because they may have heard they are expensive. It really depends on the output of the solar cell charger, what kinds of features it has, and what kinds of accessories are included. If you just want a basic solar charger, one that only has a cell phone plug and a USB port, you are looking at around $20. The larger the cell, them more out put it has, and the more adapters the more money. The Solar i-101 for example has a 1350mAh polymer rechargeable battery, an output of 5-6 volts. It can charge a cell phone in about any hour, and the internal battery can be charged within 15 hours of direct sunlight, or in four hours with the included USB jack. It also includes a bundle of five adapters, and costs just around $30.

While this may sound a little expensive for cell phone solar chargers, they can pay for themselves in a short period of time. If you ever get stranded and need to recharge or keep your cell phone going, these could save your life. Even so, it is important that you really shop around for your solar cell charger, because prices can vary greatly from retailer to retailer. While you may be able to find a small assortment of chargers from local electronic outlets, for the best prices as well as selection it is a good idea to go online. Here you will find the best deals.

Cell phone solar chargers can be a great addition for anyone who likes to get out and enjoy life, but also wants to still stay connected, whether that is being able to contact someone in an emergency, check their Email, or listen to music. These simple solar cell charging products can let you help save our planet, even on a small scale, letting your feel like you are doing your part in reducing our carbon footprint.

Most people think of freeways as utilitarian structures, and nothing more. But for Swedish architect and urban strategist Mans Tham, freeways are majestic structures that could serve another important Acer aspire 4720 battery purpose.

In an effort to make freeways more attractive and functional, Tham would like to see Los Angeles’ famed highways covered in photovoltaic cells to power the very city the freeway bisects.

Aside from providing extra electricity to cities throughout the region, the proposal could “bring green-tech jobs for farming, harvesting and processing to the very neighborhoods that today are the most disadvantaged by their proximity to the freeway.”

          ]]>

Tham estimates that if the Santa Monica Freeway was covered with solar panels between downtown L.A. and the coastline, Hp pavilion dv6000 battery it could provide 115 MW — enough electricity to power the needs of a city like Venice, California.

“The possibility of producing energy within the city is much better than ruining a desert for a solar farm and then losing energy on expensive transmission lines,” said Tham. “By letting infrastructure be a visually powerful part of the city, inside and out, its citizens are allowed to understand and cherish the complexity of their daily urban life.”

Tham’s aptly named “Solar Serpents in Paradise” plan also includes electric car charging stations under overpasses and adjacent algae ponds fed by the carbon dioxide-rich freeway air. The build-up of algae can then be harvested for biofuel.

This is not the solution to Toshiba pa3594u-1bas battery solve all energy concerns in highly urbanized regions, admits Tham. But he believes his plan could make better use of existing land, and is one of many steps necessary towards smarter cities.

As the world advances, new technologies arise – or, in some cases, older technologies are exhumed and improved upon.

Although most people are under the impression that the field of photovoltaics is a new subject, based on recent invention, this is not actually the case. But first of all lets take a look at what “photovoltaic” means.

The word “photovoltaics” can be split up in to two parts: “photo” and “votlaic”. The term “photo” is derived from the Greek word “phos” which means “light.” A “volt” is a measurement unit for electrical force. So, literally, “photovoltaic” means “electricity through light.” And that is exactly what the word means: “capturing solar energy in the form of light and converting it into electricity.”

So how do we convert sunlight into solar energy and electricity?

In order to convert sunlight into electricity you need to use a material called a “semiconductor”.

In simple terms, a semiconductor is a material that acts as an insulator, but is also able to conduct electricity under certain conditions. We employ the characteristics of semiconductors when we convert solar energy (in the form of sunlight) into electricity. It is done as follows:

When a semiconductor (such as silicon) is exposed to sunlight, it releases small amounts of electrical energy. This is due to the process that occurs when electrons (bits of electricity) leave the surface of the semiconductor, as a result of being hit by light. We call this the “photoelectric effect.”

Sunlight is made up of “photons”, which are particles of solar energy. Not all photons are the same and not all carry the same amount of energy. A simple explanation for this is that light comes in many colors. Some forms of light are visible to the eye, while some forms are invisible (such as ultraviolet or infrared light). But, regardless of color or visibility, the fact remains that light is still light and the basic particle of light is still a photon.

When a photon hits a photovoltaic cell (also called a “PV cell” for short) one of three things occurs:

1. The photon can be reflected by the photovoltaic cell

2. The photon can be absorbed by the photovoltaic cell

3. Or (believe it or not) the photon can even pass right the photovoltaic cell. Only the photons which are absorbed by the photovoltaic cell are converted into solar energy (in the form of electricity).

When a photon is absorbed by the semiconductor (the material in the photovoltaic cell which produces electricity) the solar energy of the photon is passed to an electron in one of the atoms of the semiconductor. With this additional energy the electron is able to break away from its atom. Thus an electrical current is established.

This is the simplicity of what occurs in a photoelectric cell, when sunlight is converted into electricity. The electricity so produced can now be power an electrical device.

As you can see, the field of photovoltaics consists of the technology and the principles we use to convert solar energy into a usable form.

Photovoltaic Systems

Now that we know what a photovoltaic cell is and how it works, lets take this a step further and take a look at what a photovoltaic system is.

A photovoltaic system has consists of the following components:

A “photovoltaic module”, or “pv module”. This is a group of photovoltaic cells connected together. It is commonly referred to as a solar panel, though the terms “PV module” and “solar charger” are used to describe it as well. One or more batteries to collect and store the solar energy, which was converted into electricity by the PV modules (or solar panels, solar chargers, or whatever you choose to call them). A “charge controller”. This an electrical device which prevents the batteries from being ruined through overcharging, and which also prevents electrical current from flowing back out of the battery into the PV module or solar panel. “An inverter.” An inverter an electrical device which changes the electricity produced by the PV modules into alternating current. Alternating current is the type of electricity you get from your wall sockets at home. An inverter is only used with PV systems when you want to produce alternating current as your end result. If you run your house on solar energy, the inverter is installed between the batteries and the fuse panel.

A good quality PV system will operate for more than twenty years. The PV module, having no moving parts, has an expected lifetime exceeding thirty years. Most system problems occur due to poor or sloppy installation.

So how much electricity does a photovoltaic system generate?

The average PV system will generate about 180 kilowatt-hours per square meter, in most areas of the United States.

A photovoltaic system rated at 1 kilowatt will produce 1800 kilowatt hours per year.

In case you are not clear on what a “kilowatt-hour” is, this is a way of measuring the amount of electricity produced or consumed.

Let me put it in monetary terms, which might be easier to understand. Many photovoltaic panels are guaranteed to last a minimum of twenty years – and in fact, most claim to last thirty years. Even if we factor in the natural loss of efficiency in the PV modules over a period of twenty to thirty years, a PV system will generate close to 36,000 Kilowatt-hours in twenty years and 54,000 kilowatt hours over thirty years.

This is the equivalent of $10,000 worth of electricity at current energy prices.

Therefore, though initial installation of a PV system might seem a little costly, in the long run it is far cheaper to run on solar energy.

There are different types and sizes of solar panels (photovoltaic cells) which produce varying amounts of solar power.

Scientists laptop battery have been working to find better materials and methods to create high-performance solar cells. U.S. scientists, a new study found that in silicon solar cells formed on the surface layer of silicon nanoparticle films can enhance the ability of its energy conversion and reduce the battery’s own heat and prolong life. Relevant papers will be published in “Applied Physics Express” (Applied Physics Letters) on.

The study was conducted by physicists at the University of Illinois Munir Nayfeh leadership, mainly targeted at the ultra-violet absorption and transformation. In terms of traditional solar cells, ultraviolet light leaking out of line either directly or by absorption of silicon devices, but it is converted into heat instead of electricity, which may affect the service life. In 2004, published in the “Photonics Technology Letters” (Photonics Technology Letters) in a study, Nayfeh confirmed that the UV lines with the appropriate nano-scale particles effectively combined to produce electricity.

In order to achieve practical results, Nayfeh and his colleagues conducted a new study. They first use its own developed a proprietary technology to larger silicon switch is made of discrete nano-scale particles, they will be issued in different colors of fluorescence. Then, the researchers of these particles dispersed in isopropyl alcohol and wipe the surface of the solar cell. When the alcohol evaporates, the surface of the battery will eventually form a tight layer of nano-granular films.

The researchers found that if the solar cells covering the surface is the thickness of 1 nm blue fluorescent nano-particles thin-film, the entire cell will be able to transform more than 60% of the UV lines, but the visible light, the conversion rate of increase less than 3%. However, if the battery is the thickness of the surface covered by 285 nm red fluorescent particle film, then the ultraviolet ray acer battery can increase the conversion rate of 67%, while the enhancement of visible light can reach 10%.

Nayfeh that the performance of solar cells such improvements should be more attributed to the improvement of the battery voltage rather than current. He said, “Our study conclusions indicate that charge transfer within the thin film and nano-particle interface, the importance of the amendment.”

Nayfeh said that the new coating process can easily incorporated into the current solar cell manufacturing process, while the costs are not an additional increase.

Nokia intends to be completed end of this year recovery plan for bad batteries

Nokia Corporation (Nokia Corp.) Spokesman Marianne Holmlund said the company plans to complete its year-end 2007, the battery restoration program. The company currently too much heat is being replaced with 4,600 million cell phone batteries.

According to “Nihon Keizai Shimbun” (Nikkei) reported, Holmlund said, Nokia is working with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.) Cooperation to ensure that problems with lithium batteries can be repaired as soon as possible. Those batteries from Matsushita Battery Co., Ltd. (Matsushita Battery Industrial Co.) Manufacturing.

The Finnish mobile phone giant has released the battery product advice, because of the problems these batteries overheating while charging the battery itself, leading to deformation. Nokia insists that this is not a serious injury due to battery overheating carried back to the response, but consumers demand the product should be replaced.

Holmlund said that Nokia batteries to fix all problem is very difficult, like the call back to the car and computer parts products, fixed rates are usually 30% or less.

If the battery is low repair rate, Nokia is likely to consider continuing the Dell Latitude D520 Battery in 2007 after the rehabilitation program.

Holmlund did not indicate the cost of replacement batteries. Once the battery is expected to identify the cause of the malfunction, Nokia and Panasonic will be sharing costs.

There’s lots of added benefits to using a solar panel, cost conserving currently being the primary one. We’re going to take a look at some of these advantages starting off with value.

Value

The initial expense for a solar power structure can appear particularly expensive to numerous property owners. The models can cost all sorts of things from £5,000 to well over £15,000 dependent the sort of model which you select to go for. Occasionally it’s hard to look at the future gains when confronted with a large short-term expense but it is really worth the investment. Initially buy and mount your own solar panel, cost in the short term could possibly be purchasing the system, having it sent and having it set up. The moment it’s been got over you will note a decrease in your electrical power charges year after year. Following a couple of years the system will have paid for itself so you are going to be enjoying the full advantages of it. The preservation expenses with a solar cell system are usually small as long as you reall keep the panels clean which means this should not eat in to your financial savings.

Planet-friendly

A solar power structure isn’t only an excellent advantage to a home along with the house owner but furthermore to the ecosystem too. We need to without a doubt attempt to take into consideration the time to come and also the decades that happen to be living after all of us and do all we can to sustain and preserve the environment for the children.
Making use of less plant and power company produced electrical power and generating ones own is really a great approach to do this. Normally those who have solar panels put in are the ones who are acutely sensitive to earth-friendly concerns already. The solar cell device will simply accompany what they curently have in place just like trying to recycle, decomposing and far more.

Stability

Ever had a power failure? We’re certainyou have. Lighting off home heating and hot water off all ending in mayhem for who on earth knows just how long?! Having a solar panel structure you might be making electricity your self and getting much more self-sufficient. This energy is usually stored in power packs whenever it’s not required and after that employed whenever required.

So all round you’ll be able to rest easily knowing that your own model is trustworthy. You will discover a lot more advantages that many of us can list to using a solar panel; cost is often likely to be top towards the top of just about any such listing. Just like everything there’s always negatives but were positive that they are far out weighed with the benefits!

This week marked an amazing fusion of solar and computer technological advancements as two companies announced the release of solar-powered keyboards.

The two products, however, are very different. Logitech announced on Monday the release of its K750 wireless solar keyboard that charges up inside or out in natural or ambient light.

AU Optronics on Wednesday announced the imminent release of its fully-integrated solar laptop keyboard.

“The two products are different ideas and applications,” Katie Chen, AUO corporate communications representative from Taiwan, wrote in an e-mail interview. “The AUO solution combines touch panel and solar module, with much larger surface area to absorb sunlight. People can carry the solar notebook anywhere they like, at anytime.”

The AUO keyboard does look like a solar sheet with the outline of a keyboard imprinted on it, according to reports.

While it will perform best in sunlight, the AUO keyboard, like Logitech’s, will charge up in ambient light indoors as well, according to reports.

One advantage the AUO keyboard boasts over Logitech’s, however, is its ability to charge the laptop computer.

“The solar power is the backup battery to replace a part of power,” Chen writes. “But in the future, the charging efficiency will increase depending on different solar cell materials.”

This innovation could be the first in an evolutionary chain leading to a fully solar-powered laptop, Chen suggests.

AUO has partnered with SunPower, the largest manufacturer of traditional photovoltaic solar panels in the United States.

The companies announced last month that they had achieved high efficiency in the solar cells produced at their newest plant, nearly 23 percent.

AUO produces computers, televisions and solar panels. This is one of the first integrations of the company’s efforts to hit the commercial market.

“AUO pursues green energy and carbon reduction as a green-service provider,” Chen writes. “The company is already working as a vertical integrator in the PV industry for solar energy solutions. Therefore, we keep a bright eye on designing and creating innovative green products.”

The solar-powered keyboard and laptop are not yet available on the consumer market, but will be displayed at the FPD International in Chiba, Japan next week.

Because of the unstoppable inflation in the price of electricity consumption, many have decided to use alternative energy converters such as solar cells. Solar cell is a device composed of glass laminate, semiconductor wafers and energy storage units used to convert light energy from the sun to electrical energy. These are plates that are usually arranged in series in modules.

Solar cells convert light energy to electrical energy using the photovoltaic effect. In this phenomenon, the photons present in the sunlight pass through the clear glass laminate, hit the semiconductor wafers and allow electrons to move. Because of the special properties of the wafers, electrons tend to move in only one direction, creating a direct current. In the process, the electricity produced can be used immediately and unused energy is stored in batteries.

Production of solar cells and modules has become a fast growing business in cities like Chico, CA. While many are convinced about the cost and energy conservation efficiency of the solar panels, solar system installation is becoming popular for residential, agricultural and commercial powering.

A solar cell used in solar system Chico houses prefer today can be made of different semiconductor materials. The material used as semiconductor determines the efficiency of the solar cell, which is subdivided into reflectance, thermodynamic, charge carrier separation and conductive efficiency. And because the different materials cause the variation in the electricity produced, the cost of the entire photovoltaic device is measured on the materials, or simply on the produced electricity.

Crystalline silicon is the most commonly used material as a semiconductor of a solar cell, because of its efficiency in energy conversion. However, the newest models of solar cells are made of thin films, which replace the usual solar cell offered by solar install Chico services. Thin films reduce the use of silicon and eventually lower the regular price of a solar cell.

Semiconductors can’t be separated with a solar cell. Its use and conduction of electricity in the solar system Chico uses are in some ways similar to its use in computers and memory chips. These semiconductors are found with very high efficiency in producing electrical energy. However, using the same semiconductors found in these gadgets for solar cell entails massive costs.

Nowadays, people can’t really live without gadgets. It has been an important part of our lives that our day is not complete without these devices. Losing battery powers in one of the common problems people face since we are not always in an area where we can just plug in our chargers to recharge our devices. But thanks to our smart scientists, who discovered the portable solar charger, this problem with device chargers is solved.

Portable solar chargers are systems where in one can obtain power and energy through the use of sunlight in order to recharge any hand held devices where ever you may be and what ever time of the day. How? You just have to simply plug into you device and point it to where the sunlight is and voila the power of your battery device will be charged in no time.

This works when the internal batteries of the solar charging device is exposed to the sunlight, this in turn will allow the internal batteries of your device to store the solar power. When you plug your cell phones, MP3 players, laptops and other small devices with this solar charger they will automatically recharge. These portable solar charging devices are out in the market and can be readily bought. There are many solar chargers offered so make sure you pick the best for your solar charger.

There is a regular portable solar panel that has a sheet of solar cells with electrical connections. But the only downside of this regular portable solar panel is that it you can only use them literally during the day because sunlight is the main source of energy and power of these chargers. That is why is the use of the regular solar charging device is very limited when it comes to the time you are going to use it.

These solar chargers are very portable because some are designed to be very small and light in weight. One of the most popular designs of these portable solar chargers is designed with three rectangular panels having a length of three inches that is connected and joined with each other. The panels are then exposed and fanned out to generate power and energy from the sun. Another common design of this solar charger is similar to that of a compact mirror. Imagine how light and handy these solar charging devices are? You can bring them anywhere you go and you will not have to worry about losing the power of your batteries when you are not able to access an electric output.

Of course, I will repeat once again that before it gets dark; make sure you have charged your devices. Because what I have mentioned earlier it cannot generate power once the sun is out.

Beijing’s first amorphous silicon thin-film solar cell production base – in Beijing Jinyang 150MW thin-film solar cell production base for a 50MW project in Pinggu mafang green industrial base can be formally put into production.

Amorphous silicon thin-film solar cells with abundant raw materials, non-toxic, non-polluting, low energy consumption and other advantages of the characteristics of the industry has achieved large-scale production technology, its products are mainly used in construction of large, very large grid-connected photovoltaic power plants. Beijing Jinyang in the parent company of Electronic Science and Technology Co., Ltd. Fujian Jun stone energy company, is the world’s largest manufacturer of solar lamps, but also the world’s most widely used solar energy equipment company.

Beijing Jinyang 150MW in thin film amorphous silicon solar cell manufacturing base project total investment of 950 million yuan, covers an area of 200 acres of the planning to build six production lines, the project put into operation by 2010, all the amorphous silicon thin-film solar cells produce 150MW, is equivalent to a 30-million people a year the city’s electricity consumption can be realized sales income of 1.5 billion yuan, profits and taxes 200 million yuan.

This put into operation the first phase of 50MW offline amorphous silicon thin film solar cell production line is Beijing’s largest PV cell and module production projects, from April 14 this year, started construction, to the complete set of equipment manufacturing and integration, and on-site installation, commissioning and put into operation off the assembly line, just spent six month period, construction period is usually shorter than the industry in half, creating the same kind of construction projects, a new record in photovoltaic.

Pinggu district government relevant person in charge, Beijing Jinyang 150MW thin-film solar cell production base of the entire project to production from the contract less than a year to achieve a negotiated during the year, this year signed a contract year, the building of the year put into production during the year bear fruit.

The project successfully put into operation, so that in a relatively short period of time Beijing has established a unique and environmentally-friendly clean energy industrial base.

The person in charge is located in the industrial park mafang Pinggu mafang green to green energy industry base is Beijing’s industrial base, major developments in high-tech industries and eco-industries are Pinggu “Eleventh Five-Year” period focused on promoting the project has been the introduction of Jinyang 150MW thin-film solar cell production base project, Seven Star Park CRE semiconductor industry projects, National Tsing Hua University days up to TFT, solar energy equipment, to master the core technology projects, nearly 10 leading enterprises.
